Let’s Get Acquainted

Learn more about Stephanie's background & career as a rider & trainer

With horses in her blood and a lifelong dedication to the sport, Stephanie Pair Kavitz brings a rare combination of instinct, international experience, and heart to her training program. Raised by a mother who was a trainer and a father who worked as a farrier, Stephanie’s foundation in horsemanship began early. She started showing at just seven years old and was galloping three-year-old Thoroughbred stallions for the track by age ten. “When I was a kid, I was pretty fearless,” she says—and that fearless drive has never left her.

At seventeen, Stephanie earned a working student position with Isabelle Judet, the former Chef d’Équipe of the French Olympic Dressage Team. Her time in France was formative; she also trained in jumping under Bernard Scottsman, and immersed herself in the European horse world while earning a business degree.

Though she traveled frequently back to the U.S. to help on her family’s farm, she spent four transformative years abroad, returning only because she wanted to continue her journey with her own horse by her side.

Back in the States, Stephanie worked in New York and took in a horse others had given up on—one marked for slaughter due to a suspected injury. With compassion and determination, she rehabilitated him and eventually competed him through Intermediaire I. That horse, once thought to have no future, now enjoys a well-earned retirement at 30 years old.

Stephanie’s story is one of grit, grace, and a lifelong commitment to the well-being and potential of every horse she works with. Her training philosophy centers on clear communication, mutual trust, and producing rideable, happy athletes—whether for the FEI ring or everyday enjoyment.

Today, Stephanie runs a program that reflects everything she’s learned—blending classical principles with practical experience and an individualized approach for each horse and rider. She specializes in developing young horses, retraining projects, and preparing quality sales horses for their next chapter. Whether working with an ambitious junior rider or helping a horse regain confidence, Stephanie is known for her patient, honest, and thoughtful style. Her clients value her sharp eye, straightforward communication, and unwavering commitment to both the horse’s progress and well-being.
